Community drop-in sessions
Santana Minerals is holding drop-in sessions every Monday in the Tarras and Cromwell communities over the next few months.
This is a chance to chat to the team about the project, find out about what stage we are at, and share your thoughts.
We want to help the region prosper
Here’s how we’re doing our bit:
Supporting our community
We’re sponsoring local initiatives to help our community prosper.
Santana Minerals supports a range of community initiatives in Central Otago, including the Santana Central Otago Football League.
The Central Otago Football League operates as an independent league, hosting sixteen teams from around the Central Otago region.
These teams actively engage with RSE workers, representing over twenty different nationalities. The league serves as a community hub for these workers, providing a space where they can socialize and connect with others from their home countries.
The League has been running for 17 years and most recently, Santana Minerals’ partnership with the League has allowed games to be livestreamed online, meaning the families of the RSE workers can watch their games back home.
Jobs and skills
During the construction phase of the project, we plan to employ around 150 people. Once operational we hope to employ between 200 and 250 people for well over 10 years.
Our project is an opportunity for local residents to build new careers across all sectors, while we support and grow local companies that can provide a wide range of services to the project.
Education
Otago students are the future leaders of our project.
Once the project is up and running, we’ll offer apprenticeships and training programs to help young people forge new careers in mining, and in many other vocational disciplines that support the project, including safety, human resources, administration and other important roles.
